Highland Lake is a serene and beautiful body of water located a few miles east of Fox Lake in Avon Township, Illinois. Chicago is less than 60 miles away, perfect for a quick day trip to the city.

Restaurants, shops, salons, and schools are nearby in Grayslake. The Waukegan National Airport and Vista Medical Center are approximately 12 miles away. Chicago’s O’Hare International Airport is about 35 miles south of the lake.

Escape to Beautiful Waters

Highland Lake features 110 acres of water with two miles of shoreline. The waters have an average depth of 11 feet and a maximum depth of 35 feet.

Fishing is the lake’s most popular activity, boasting populations of northern pike, rock bass, largemouth bass, muskellunge, bluegill, walleye, carp, and panfish.

The lake welcomes all non-motorized watercraft. Paddleboarding, kayaking, and canoeing are peaceful activities on Highland Lake.

Renwood Golf Club features a public 18-hole course just north of Highland Lake.

Arrow Marine on Fox Lake offers a boat ramp, slip rentals, boat services, and excellent customer service. Fox Lake is the perfect location for water skiing, wakeboarding, or powerboating.

Illinois Beach State Park on Lake Michigan is only a half-hour from Highland Lake. It is a wonderful location for hiking, beaching, or fishing.
